[11 Nov 2009|08:31pm] doll_houses [pinkpuppybelly] Here is a hermit crab terrarium that I made! It's made of a Reutter box, and is about 1.5 inches tall. I used a mix of white sand and celery salt to get the color and texture I wanted for the substrate. The fronds are snipped off of plastic aquarium plants and stuck onto beads. The crabs are hand-made from natural shells (so tiny!) with clay legs that I rolled and painted myself. I'd like a tiny piece of 'driftwood' or 'coral' to put in there too. 7 comments|post comment

My new kitchen. [09 Nov 2009|09:05am] doll_houses [starlit12] Hello all! I think I've introduced myself once before - I'm Alexa, 26, from New Jersey. My dollhouse is a Lundby house from the early 1980s and is 1/18th scale. This weekend I did a lot of work on the kitchen of my dollhouse - I measured the wallpaper, cut it, bought flooring, put the flooring in, cleaned the furniture and set up the room. Here it is: It bothered me that I hadn't put in more work in such a long time - I had been working on the entire house a lot back around May/June and then stopped. Also, yesterday my mother and I bought odds and ends for the house on ebay and etsy - we bought a bunch of rugs, curtain rods, some furniture, a car, patio furniture, etc. I'm excited for it all to arrive in the near future! The dog and dog bed I purchased yesterday while out shopping for the flooring. The high chair is not the right scale, but I like it anyway. The item on the right is a washing machine, and on top of it is a box of dog bones and a dog carrier. The curtain had been in the children's room of the house, but I liked the red ribbons for the kitchen. There are only 2 kitchen chairs because over the years, various dogs have eaten the other 2. My mom purchased the bench for me years ago when she saw the chairs were disappearing. I like the bench! Next to the stove on the wall is a spice rack - you can sorta see it next to the dolls head. I put a wall mount phone next to the doorway, and an apple clock and bulletin board on the left. My other favorite part of the room - and has always been - is the broken egg on the floor. As a child, I thought that was the coolest thing! So, the kitchen is completed! Yesterday evening, I also put up the paper in my living room/dining room, along with new carpeting. I'm waiting for some furniture and accessories to arrive (the ebay and etsy purchases) and then that room will be completed as well! The wallpaper for the kitchen is from Jennifer's Printable Minis from the 1950's section. I love it! 6 comments|post comment

'cause I was cooking my own dinner today. YES. ALL BY MYSELF. So i was like " comfirm very easy, just chop chop and put in boiling water" . RIGHT? But WRONGGGGGGGGGGG! I was like so tired after cooking my tomato soup and rice. JUST THESE TWO. Imagine me always asking my boyfriend to cook tomato soup with rice for me. T___T And he still cooks for me! AND COOKING IS TIRING. And, i told him my ma loves macaroni salad and he offered to cook for her. Bottom line: MY BOYFRIEND IS EPIC (in a good way) Jealous? TOO BAD HE'S MINE. 2. My parents are awesome too Spoilt x 100 000. Dream doll house skirt! So, i'm selling my paris windows JSK . Love the print but not my style anymore ( OTT SWEET FTW ). My ma bought me small white table and matching chairs for me so i can have a mini corner to have tea with lynessa and joki and gang. And she helped me set and assemble all these up! AWESOME ANOT?! 3. MY DINNER. IS AWESOME. Tiring but i'm super full. HOHOHO. Wash here cut there.   MY LIFE IS PERFECT NOW. :D post comment

Downsides to this: -They're currently out of stock of 12mm eyes -They only have one 12mm design: -They sell the eyes individually and each 12mm eye is 22$ (kinda spensive for one eye =/ ) Upsides: -They're awesome and perfect for a steampunk doll -They're made of real brass -Denver doll is expecting to restock and add new designs in early November -Hel is currently missing her eyes and these would be a great replacement In other news, midterms week has passed and I did pretty well for myself, I even got a 96.5 on my College Writing Midterm. I've still been up the my eyes in work, between making models for Design 3D and reading and writing essays for College writing x_x! I haven't been home in 3 weeks and I'm starting to go just a little bit crazy, I don't know how I've managed to stay here so long. Well I'm going home Thursday night so I just gotta make it through the day. Anyways, I got more reading and drawing to do tomorrow morning so I'm going to get myself in to bed.
